This workshop aims to enable participants to understand stone decay processes, assess masonry structures and identify where replacement stone is required, carry out full and part stone indents accurately and match original work.
Ideally, learners should have attended C1 Making and Using Traditional Mortars and C2 Repair of Masonry Structures courses.
Completion of this workshop, along with the Surface Repair of Stone (SROS) course, provides the underpinning knowledge and a practical rehearsal for the assessment of SQA Unit H8 WW 46 ‘Stonemasonry Repairs’ assessed on A3.
Course Suitability
✓ This practical and theory based course is aimed at contractors and those undertaking repair work to stone masonry structures and buildings who have completed C1 ‘Making and Using Traditional Mortars’ and C2 ‘Repair of Masonry Structures’ courses.
✓ Good trowel/ tool skills are required
